The luxury yacht, Glaros
“Glaros” which when translated into English means, “Seagull”. She is unique traditional Greek wooden Motor Sailor. Which for many years worked as a ferry between the island of Paxos and Parga on the mainland. Glaros also worked with a diving school, taking divers to various dive locations around the island of Corfu. Glaros was built in the seventies by one of the leading boat yards of Greece. The reputable Chalkitis Brothers boat yard in Perama, near Piraeus.
Testimonial, Andrew Anderson
I sat on the back deck with my favourite whiskey, and watch the sun go down each night, it was heavenly. My wife Eileen and I had the best holiday, it was perfect in every way. Being on a boat can be great fun, as you can see I enjoyed helping to steer the boat. A very relaxing holiday, I can’t wait to go again.
Accommodation for 10 passengers
Recently, Glaros has been refurbished with a gleaming wood interior, and spacious, comfortable accommodation. She is a classic motor sailing yacht providing the highest level of luxury and services combined with the latest technology. Glaros has the capacity to accommodate 10 passengers in five cabins all with en-suite facilities.
All timbers used during the extensive refit have come from those countries where the timber is in abundant supply. We never used any wood which came from those countries throughout the world where they destroy forests. So at least we are trying to do our bit to alleviate global warming.
Glaros has several large deck areas to offer you spectacular views, as you cruise around the Ionian Islands in the Mediterranean. The aft deck has a superb shaded area for dining and lounging, away from the midday sun. The forward part of the deck has a large area with comfortable cushions so that you can bask in the sun. This is a romantic place to dance with your loved one as the sun goes down.
There are five luxurious cabins fitted out mainly in Mahogany, all with en-suite Shower and W.C. A large lounge area and galley on the upper deck, which is adjoined to the wheelhouse enabling you to see the running of the vessel at first hand. The Wheelhouse itself has been installed with the latest state of the art electrical and navigational equipment. The crew’s quarters are in the stern of the vessel, with a separate bathroom.
Crewed Charter Yacht
Lately “Glaros” has been doing crewed yacht charter work. Carrying passengers around the Greek Island in Luxury. She was built in Piraeus, near Athens and launched in 1972. She is now an extremely high standard Motor Sailing Yacht. That combines a magnificent Aegean Pine traditional wooden hull. With some of today’s state of the art modern sailing equipment and fittings.
Glaros is British registered, and has a Category 2 MCA Coding. With two large marine diesel engines, and her up to date equipment. She is a strong, comfortable, seaworthy, and a reliable boat. The professional English speaking crew consists of a Captain, an Engineer, a deckhand and a Steward/Chef. They will welcome you on board and attend to your every need. They will do their best to make your holiday a memorable experience.
