The Greek Islands are a very popular destination for millions of holiday makers every year. They are a place of outstanding natural beauty and magic. They are divided into six groups. The Ionian Islands, which are the most Northerly of the islands, on the west coast of Greece. Dodecanese, which are the most Southerly, near the coast of Turkey. Then there is the Sporades, Cyclades, Argosaronic Gulf and the North East Aegean.
Chartering a yacht, is the best way to visit these islands. You will be able to get to places which are not accessible by road or plane. On a yacht you will be able to get around more of the islands, easily. Anchor among them and go ashore in the speed boat, to explore the beautiful beaches. Visit the harbours and try the local hospitality in some of the many Tavernas.
A lot of the rocky outcroppings, are home to an abundant amount of wild life. Which, because they are basically left undisturbed, they flourish in these surroundings. Turtles swim with their young and the Monk seal can lay ashore and bask in the sun. A lot of these areas, have now been made into Marine national parks. This is to help protect the Flora and Fauna in the ecologically sensitive areas.
