What is the first thing that comes to your mind when someone says Greece? Let us guess; the white and blue hues of the beautiful Greek Islands? Bingo! This reaction is quite understandable as the ridiculously breath-taking island temples with the bluest of skies above, are indeed glorious. But they are not the only reason for the stardom of this place. Here is our helpful guide, on what to pack for Greece.
What to pack for Greece ?
Cities like Athens, with its resilient locals. The islands like Mykonos, which provides the ultimate shopping. Delphi which is submerged in core historical importance. Hydra with its posh landscapes and waterfront, is also noteworthy. Each and every one of them is a reminder of how great a civilization it used to be.
If you are planning to visit these stunning Greek islands any time soon, it is essential to know what to pack.
Protection from the Sun
First of all, you must protect your skin from the sun, you will not always be able to find some shade. Therefore a sun hat, sun glasses and sun screen, are all essential items, to pack for Greece. Greece has approximately 200 days of sunshine each year and gets very hot in July and August.
When Touring The Countryside
In Greece, people aren’t really objective about clothing. Pack some tank tops, a few dresses, jeans, and leggings. Just as you would have if you were going on a vacation in any other country. Scarves and jackets are also commonly worn, so you can pack those too. However in July and August the temperature does climb up into the high thirties. Be very specific about what shoes you are planning to take along. Because not only do they take up space in your luggage. The roads in most of the cities aren’t very cobbled, with a lot of walking and metro-rides involved. So, heels are a big NO-NO!
When Hiking Mountains
If you plan on hiking, you will, of course, need to carry the essentials, which will include hiking boots. You will also need a wind breaker jacket and some extra layers of clothes for underneath. These are just a precaution in the unlikely event that the weather should take a turn for the worst. More than likely you will need a small ruck sack, to carry the items that you take off during a hike. Not to mention, when looking for great outdoor activities. Do book, Deep Blue Yachting’s luxury yacht Glaros, to dock on some of the most beautiful Greek islands.
When Visiting Santorini and Mykonos Islands
Here, you will need to carry breathable clothes, your swimsuit, shorts, tank tops, beach towels, and maybe a couple of skirts or flowery dresses for fancy night outs as a few reputed bars and restaurants do require you to follow a dress code.
Furthermore, there are Mosquitoes in Greece. So pack some good repellent, like DEET, for when you are outside at night. You can buy some small, special plug-in machines in most supermarkets in Greece. Which give off a vapor to keep Mosquitoes out of the house and your bedroom while you sleep. They work very well. If you already have them, don’t forget to pack them.
