Greece annually hosts millions of tourists from across the globe. Well who wouldn’t want a vacation full of adventure, vibrancy, great food, and breath taking nature? Visit the Cyclades Islands.
Cyclades, Greek Archipelago
First of all, the Greek archipelago, is traditionally grouped into seven different clusters of islands. They are the, Ionian Islands, Saronic, Cyclades, Aegean, Dodecanese, Sporades, and Peloponnese. Each of them offering diverse culture, terrains, activities. Also a selection of beaches that have come to define the splendours of this part of the world.
Something for everyone
Furthermore, what makes this cluster of islands absolutely unique is the fact that they’ve got something for everyone. Santorini, Delos and Mykonos are the frequently visited. Then there are the less visited ‘remote and rugged’ islands. That may not sport the crowded beaches and bars but hold a quaint charm. Enough to bedazzle anyone who visits the place.
Cyclades
While away from the boisterous nightclubs and posh outlets tucked away in Central Cyclades, these are the three islands that you need to explore on your next trip to Greece.
Antiparos
A stunning shoreline and the prominent natural beauty of the Antiparos make it an ideal vacation spot. Especially for someone looking to spend their days by the gold sands, emerald waters, and remarkable nature. This tiny island is located in the heart Cyclades and boasts a 57km coast. Marked with whitewashed homes. Cobbled stone streets and alleys, distinct eucalyptus, and purple and pink bougainvillea. The island offers an enchanting atmosphere to all visitors.
You can organize for hiking, cycling, and boat tours. Or explore water activities like scuba diving, snorkelling, kite surfing, and windsurfing while you’re there. Also, the island is a diver’s paradise.
Paros
Located not too far from the Antiparos, Paros is yet another Greek island that most tourists miss out on. The island is illustrated in a picturesque setting with simple villages and hills that highlight the simplicity of this place. The deep blue sea and the surrounding flora is home to distinct wildlife. Which includes gulls, hawks, finches, frogs, cicadas, owls, and even crickets.
While the strong whiff of the sea dominates the ambience. One can clearly make out the smell of fresh herbs like rosemary and sage. Also the mouth-watering aroma of fresh out-of-the-oven bread, seafood, and pressed wine. Paros is a serene island. One island, that shouldn’t be missed if you’re heading to Greece.
Pano Koufonisi
The Pano (upper) Koufonisi is one of the islands that make up the Koufonisia (hollow islands). The fact that it’s less visited is largely because the place is not easily accessible. This small island has a population of mere 300 residents. The best beaches are at Parianos, Foinikas, Loutro, Fanos, Pori and Italida. A good way to see the island is rent a bike and follow the shore line.
If you wish to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. To a remote place that is untouched by mass-tourism and absolutely breath taking. Pano Koufonisi is a must visit.
When we talk of a laid back vacation amid the sun, sand, sea. The winds and energy of these Greek marvels is hard to ignore. These three Cyclades islands make it to the top of our list. However the Cyclades is rich with other phenomenal natural attractions waiting to be discovered. In fact, it is home to some very important archaeological ruins in Greece.
